It is safe to say that I have been on a quest for the perfect smartphone mount for my vehicle for quite a long time. Knowing exactly who and how I am, it is also safe to say I will probably never find it. That being said, the folks over at Bracketron were very kind to send me their Mi-T Grip smartphone dash and window mount to try and convince me theirs is the best.

When the mount arrived in the mail I was really shocked at how simple it was and how little there was to it. I have tried other Bracketron mounts with no success in finding one that suited me very well. The Mi-T Grip is solidly built for being all plastic. The suction cup is well made and has a sticky coating on it that helps it adhere to the window or dashboard.

My first mounting instinct was the window, which worked well but kind of obscured some of my vision. I then moved it to the dashboard. I should add that the mount spent several days on the window, and, when moved to the dashboard, the sticky coating did not lose any of its effectiveness. Both locations held firm. The arms on the Mi-T Grip are spring loaded and boy are those springs tight! They really do a great job of holding the phone right in place, and I never felt that the phone was going to fall or slip.

The Pros

I have spent a few weeks with the Mi-T Grip now, and I have to say that Bracketron has really come very close to the perfect “simple” mount. The materials used are quality and the mount does a superb job of holding my HTC One. I really love the spring tension on the arms and never feel like my phone is going to slip or fall out of the mount.

The Cons

There is not much to say in the cons department. The only real issue I can see with this mount is that it may not comfortably hold larger phones like the Galaxy Note 2. The spring tension on the arms is so great it does take a little effort to expand them. Those with a large phone may want to consider this factor.

Conclusion

The Bracketron Mi-T Grip gets 4.5 out of 5 stars from me. The quality build is evident. The simple design is perfect. I am probably going to continue to look for the perfect smarthphone mount, but, for now, Bracketron has really hit the nail on the head with the Mi-T Grip. I would recommend this to anyone who wants a simple, well-built mount.
